Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol Consumption

What does a standard drink looks like?

The consumption of alcohol is widespread in Australia and entwined within many social and cultural activities. Harmful levels of consumption are a major health issue, and are associated with an increased risk of chronic disease, injury and premature death.

Alcohol is the most commonly used drug in Australia. For healthy men and women, drinking no more than two standard drinks on any day reduces the lifetime risk of harm from alcohol-related disease or injury.

If you are concerned that you or someone you care about may have a problem with alcohol, please seek help from your GP.
